Scope of Application:

In accordance with Decision No. 14/2023/QD-TTg, Appendix I specifies the official testing standard for the energy efficiency of rice cookers:

TCVN 8252:2015 regarding Rice Cookers – Energy Efficiency (applicable from July 15, 2023)

According to the provisions in Section 1 (Scope) of Vietnam National Standard TCVN 8252:2015:

“This standard applies to common rice cookers for household and similar purposes, with a rated power up to and including 2000W. This standard applies to rice cookers using either resistance or induction heating methods, operating at normal atmospheric pressure.
This standard specifies the energy efficiency grades of rice cookers and the method for determining energy efficiency.”

Technical Requirements in the Energy Efficiency Test Report for Rice Cookers:

The energy efficiency test report for rice cookers must be evaluated according to the technical requirements for safety, power, and corresponding energy efficiency:

(1) Safety Requirements: Rice cookers must ensure safety in accordance with TCVN 5699-2-15 (IEC 60335-2-15).
(2) Power Requirements: The average power value measured from 4 tests must not deviate from the rated power by more than ± 5%.
(3) Energy Efficiency Requirements: The energy efficiency of electric rice cookers is measured under the conditions specified in Article 5. The energy efficiency is divided into five grades, see Table 1. Grade 5 is the grade with the highest energy efficiency.
