Scope of Applications:

Pursuant to Decision No. 14/2023/QD-TTg, Appendix I stipulates the energy efficiency testing standard for washing machines:

  • TCVN 8526:2013 Regarding washing machines – Energy efficiency (applicable from July 15, 2023)

Excerpt from Section 1 (Scope of Application) of TCVN 8526:2013 stipulates: “This standard specifies the energy efficiency levels and the method for determining energy efficiency for household washing machines and for similar purposes, with or without heating devices, using cold and/or hot water sources, with a rated capacity from 2 kg to 15 kg. This standard does not apply to washing machines with separate washing tubs and spin-extraction compartments.”

Energy Efficiency Requirements:

(1) Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS)

The minimum energy efficiency level for vertical-axis washing machines, determined according to Article 5 of this standard, shall not be greater than 23.0 Wh/kg.

The minimum energy efficiency level for horizontal-axis washing machines, determined according to Article 5 of this standard, shall not be greater than 90.0 Wh/kg.

(2) The energy efficiency levels for vertical-axis washing machines are specified in Table 1. Level 1 is the level with the lowest energy efficiency, and level 5 is the level with the highest energy efficiency.

(3) The energy efficiency levels for horizontal-axis washing machines are specified in Table 2. Level 1 is the level with the lowest energy efficiency, and level 5 is the level with the highest energy efficiency.

After obtaining the Energy Efficiency Test Report for Washing Machines, the enterprise will submit it along with the energy labeling registration dossier to the Ministry of Industry and Trade to carry out the energy labeling declaration. After completing the declaration procedures, the enterprise is permitted to self-affix the energy label in accordance with the information in the Energy Efficiency Declaration of Conformity Form.
