1. The exchange forum “Upgrading Energy Efficiency Standards”
The Exchange Forum: “Upgrading Energy Efficiency Standards,” produced by the Education and Science Department of Vietnam Television, was broadcast on December 6, 2024. It discussed the objectives and the current situation of implementing the National Program on Energy Conservation and Efficiency for the period 2019-2030. The government aims to save 8-10% of total national energy consumption by 2030, with a key task of managing and upgrading energy efficiency for high-energy-consuming devices.
The program featured Mr. Dang Hai Dung (Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development – Ministry of Industry and Trade MOIT), Mrs. Nguyen Thi Le Thanh (General Director of Daikin Vietnam), and Mr. Nguyen Cao Tri (CEO of Ariston Vietnam). The discussion focused on the standards to be applied in 2025, aiming to raise the minimum efficiency requirements for common consumer devices such as air conditioners and water heaters.
The forum “Upgrading Energy Efficiency Standards” featured insights from guest speakers representing the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Daikin Vietnam, and Ariston Vietnam.
This exchange forum also addressed important issues related to the impact of new standards on products, methods for identifying energy-saving devices, as well as the roadmap for the issuance of standards and policies to support businesses. These new standards will have a wide-reaching impact on businesses, and organizations involved in manufacturing, trading, importing, and testing laboratories. The government is committed to supporting enterprises by creating clear legal frameworks and accompanying policies, while manufacturers emphasize their commitment to providing high-quality, energy-efficient products to meet the increasing demands of consumers.
The program also clarified the critical role of accredited testing laboratories such as Phuc Gia Testing Lab, Quatest 1, and others, in inspecting and certifying the quality and energy performance of products. These laboratories not only contribute to improving product quality but also assist businesses in complying with new energy performance standards, especially in energy labeling. At the same time, they ensure that consumers have access to more energy-efficient, effective, and sustainable products.
The Exchange Forum: Upgrading Energy Performance Standards provided insightful perspectives and clarified important issues regarding energy performance and sustainable development in the context of climate change and the depletion of primary energy sources. Experts, manufacturers, and relevant authorities discussed strategies and solutions to achieve the objectives set for the 2019-2030 period, particularly the implementation of TCVN 7830:2021, effective from April 1, 2025.
