QCVN 94:2015/BTTTT for Ultra-Wideband Information Technology Equipment

I. APPLICABLE SUBJECTS

QCVN 94:2015/BTTTT applies to Vietnamese and foreign organizations and individuals engaged in the manufacturing and trading of ultra-wideband information technology equipment within the scope of this Regulation in the territory of Vietnam.

II. MAIN CONTENT OF QCVN 94:2015/BTTTT

QCVN 94:2015/BTTTT was drafted by the Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications based on EN 301 489-33 (2009-2) of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). It was appraised and submitted for approval by the Department of Science and Technology and issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications along with Circular No. 27/2015/TT-BTTTT dated September 28, 2015.

1. Scope of Regulation

This National Technical Regulation on electromagnetic compatibility for ultra-wideband information technology equipment stipulates the electromagnetic compatibility requirements for transmitters, receivers, and transceivers using ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for short-range communication. It also regulates equipment using impulse-based UWB, modified impulse-based UWB, and RF carrier-based UWB technologies.

QCVN 94:2015/BTTTT applies to fixed indoor, mobile, and portable applications, including:

Standalone radio devices with or without attached control sections;
Plug-in radio devices used with or in various host systems, such as personal computers, handheld terminals, etc.;
Plug-in radio devices used in combination equipment, such as cable modems, set-top boxes, access points, etc.;
Combination equipment or a combination of a plug-in radio device and a specific host device;
Equipment used in road and rail vehicles.

The regulation applies to UWB equipment with detachable antennas or UWB equipment with integral antennas operating on several frequency bands designated for UWB information equipment in accordance with the Vietnam national radio frequency allocation master plan.

Note: This regulation does not apply to UWB transmitters installed permanently outdoors or in flying models, aircraft, and other forms of aviation.

2. Technical Regulations according to QCVN 94:2015/BTTTT

QCVN 94:2015/BTTTT regarding electromagnetic compatibility for ultra-wideband information technology equipment includes technical regulations on EMC emissions, immunity, testing conditions, performance evaluation, and quality criteria. Specifically as follows:

Regulations on EMC emissions comply with section 2.1 in QCVN 18:2014/BTTTT.
Regulations on immunity comply with section 2.2 in QCVN 18:2014/BTTTT.
Regulations on testing conditions comply with Annex A in QCVN 18:2014/BTTTT and several other conditions stated in this regulation.
Regulations on performance evaluation comply with Annex B in QCVN 18:2014/BTTTT and several other requirements stated in this regulation.
Quality criteria are detailed for general criteria and specific cases such as continuous phenomena applied to transmitters (CT), transient phenomena applied to transmitters (TT), continuous phenomena applied to receivers (CR), and transient phenomena applied to receivers (TR).

III. EFFECTIVE DATE

QCVN 94:2015/BTTTT regarding electromagnetic compatibility for ultra-wideband information technology equipment is effective as of April 1, 2016. Relevant organizations and individuals are responsible for implementing regulations on the certification and declaration of conformity for ultra-wideband information technology equipment and are subject to inspection by state management agencies according to current regulations.
